Get Pinspired? For a Woman Over 40 with a not so little shape?

Linking up with Mix & Match Family  Pinterest Told Me To  and The Larson Lingo in a different kind of Pin-spired way.

The title says it all ladies and gents!  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Pinterest.  I have pinned quite a few outfits to my boards.  I have even nailed a few of those pins; however, the point remains that I am getting a little "down" about the fact that when I pull up shorts and tees, I get shorts and tees that are cute on younger, taller, less curvy women.

Example #1

black/white striped tee white shorts neutral flats green handbag multi-strand pearlsI could sooooo wear this outfit, IF I were a size 8 or 10, but being the size I am (bigger than that) the white shorts look too tight, and too short, and I look goofy with the sperry-type shoes on.  I think I could modify this to white bermudas, sandals and the tee (minus the longer sleeves).  I never do the bags, sometimes the jewelry, and I love my Aviator RayBans, so they will be the sunglasses I wear until they break! Ha!

Would I wear this to teach summer school?  Heck no!  We get too dirty, and too sweaty for me to ruin this look on 6th graders! Haha!  Would I wear it to the mall to shop?  Depends on what other errands I have to do.  I hate to "dress up" when I go grocery shopping because, whether we like it or not, grocery stores are dirty!  If dirt is in the area, it will find it's way to me. Booo!!!

So, when would I wear this, you ask?  Well, on a date night with the hubs, which are few and far between when you are starting your own business.  I would wear this with crops/capris/pants or bermudas to Saturday night church services.  Again, I can't pull off the shoes, but sandals, or even wedges would do nicely.
Let me know what you think!  Until I wear the outfit, though, you will have to eagerly await a "I nailed the look" blog post! Ha!

Example #2

Ready to Repeat: Nothing like a white tee and colorful shorts plus an easy accessory like a scarf
This one, well, I know the scarf is a NO, simply because when you are my age, and my size, it makes you HOT no matter what the temperature.  I can usually wear a scarf for an hour or so, not an all day thing.  I also can't pull off the shorter shorts.  If I try hard enough, I could do it.  So you might see a version of this one too.

I do know the crops, the shorty shorts, and the adorable cutesy outfits won't work on me.  I'll keep trying, and keep pinning!  Just keep reading, and you may be surprised!

Thanks for stopping by!  Have an awesome weekend!

Thursday's Thoughts!

Thursdays are just hard days for me to think about.  Why?  Who knows?  Maybe, my brain is so fogged and tired by this day, that I just want to think about nothing! Ha!  I do have a couple of random things going around in my head, so sit back, buckle up, and hang on!!

1.  I am having so much fun with Aimie being home!  She fixed supper tonight, and even though I get to clean up her mess, I didn't have to make supper, or serve it either!  Love this kid!

 2.  The scenery around our house is Ahhhmazing!!  It truly makes me appreciate God and his gift of nature to us.  Gary and I were going to town the other day and there by the fence of a favorite neighbor was a sweet little fawn!  It couldn't have been much more than a week old.  I made asked Gary to turn around so I could take a picture - Enjoy!!!

3.  I am reading the book "The Fault in Our Stars", it's just one that I feel I kind of need to take my time on, so I'm not getting through it as quickly as I would like.

4.  My principal came into my classroom today and handed me an envelope addressed to Student, Aimie Simmers.  It was crazy, because Aimie has been out of HS for a year now, and it was addressed to the Elementary???  When I got home, I showed Aimie, and she said, "We wrote letters to practice that skill and I chose this guy because his name was different!"  Come to find out, the letters were written during their 5th grade year!  The letter was just recently postmarked, so we have had great fun out of this!

5.  Last thing for the evening.  Everyone who knows me, knows I am NOT a morning person.  Summer school is really kicking my tail with the hours we chose to go this year (7:30 - 4:00, I know, right?); however, we do get a 4 day weekend starting tomorrow!!!   I am having a good time, but will be so glad when it's over.  Those days are Loooooooongggg!!!

What I Wore this Week!

Well, I am almost embarrassed to post some of these pics, but..here goes.

Thursday, May 22nd:  IE next to the last day of school!!

My favorite buckle capris, my new AHS FFA shirt and a pair of my favorite sandals.

Friday:  My LAST day of regular school!  I declared it National Teacher's wear shorts day! Ha!

Black shorts, white tshirt, and white Old Navy flips.

Tuesday:  Sorry, I skipped the weekend, can't help it, I was lazy!  First day of Summer School!

FCA tee shirt and a pair of my new Danskin running shorts, that I will never run in!  I promise I did wear shoes, but I was running late!  Wore my black flips.

Wednesday:  Second day of Summer School.  Can you tell I'm not in a fashionable mood?

I promise I wore shoes today too, same old black flips from Old Navy.  Comfy shorts that are waaay old, and my Life is Great, Education Makes it Better tee.

Hmm...now that I'm getting ready to hit the publish button, do I really want to?  I see so many things I am not crazy about seeing.  I do need your opinions on shorts though!  I don't want to wear "good" shorts to summer school because I sweat like a pig!  I also think I am getting way too old for "shorts" and maybe just need to wear longer??  Let me know what you think!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Reading!

Twofer Tuesday!

It's Tuesday!  WooHoo!  First day of Summer School!  That brings me to one of my favorites this week!  Shorts and tees! Love, love, love!  I do, however, need to figure out a way to jazz them up!  I looked kind of cute today, nah, not really!  LOL!  I was quite comfy!  Thought I would post a pic of my favorite kind of shorts.  The comfy running (hahaha - they will never see that type of activity on me) shorts.  My only problem is finding them to fit in length appropriately.  Suggestions?

Got a pair of these at the old Walmart store for around $7.  Wish mine looked as good on me as these look on this little lady! Ha!  As I said, I'm having trouble with the length.  I'm 46 (very proud of it) and have decided that I'm not as young as some of these clothes think I am!  I don't like to pay a lot for my "summer school" wardrobe, because we really sweat and do messy things, so I don't want to ruin them.  Any thoughts on this would be great!

Favorite #2:  The Pony Tail Holder!  Haha!!  I'm letting my hair grow longer than I normally do, and it is now long enough to keep most of it back in the ponytail holder.  My hair is so thick, though, that I often go through several pony tail holders a summer.  I stretch them out, or just plain old snap them at the joint.  I've tried the grippy kind and those break my hair, so I'll just stick to these.

There you have it!  My Twofer Tuesday favorites today!  If you have suggestions on shorts styles, just let me know!  I'm always open to suggestions!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Tuesday!

Favorite Things Party

So, those of you who "follow" me, or just stop by and read the blog occasionally, may or may not remember that Diet Mt. Dew is a favorite of mine!  I have GOT to STOP drinking SO much!!!  I have decided that maybe I just need a substitute.  I have tried sugarless everything, and have come to the conclusion that I can now taste the aftertaste of aspartame. BOOO!!! What does this have to do with favorites under $10?  Well, I discovered Sunny D Lemonade!!  OMW (Oh My Word, for those of you not accustomed to my acronyms)!!  This stuff is amazing, and doesn't have too much sugar, etc.  It's also not as harmful to the kidneys, so...this is one of my new favorites!

One of the BEST parts about this is that I got a 1.75 quart container at Wal-Mart for $1.00!!

On the Memorial Day note, I have to say I am so very thankful for the fine men and women who have chosen to serve our country!  I am the tail end of being an Army Brat, and am so very proud of my Daddy!  He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.  He is very active in his VFW, and serves with the Stoddard County Honor Guard.  So, I guess you could say, he is another one of my Favorites--but he's way more than $10!!

He's the one on the far left!  Photo courtesy of Donna Redman.

5 on Friday

#1  Skipped Thursday blogging:  Went to bed at 9:15!!  That's a miracle for me!

#2  Last day of regular school for AES today!  Sad, sad, sad, yet "I feel so Happy...."

happy feet and human ecology a century of environmentalism
#3 Pie in the Face today!!  I chose one lucky student to "throw" a pie full of cool whip in my face as a celebration!  Lucky for me, the one chosen was very compassionate and didn't go full on from the front, but to the side! (I did end up with cool whip in my ear, but my nose was saved - I'll have to let you in on that story some time later).  No pictures were taken during, however, I do have an "after pic" of me in the car headed home with Cool Whip hair!  My bangs were so stiff, and the CW had dried so hard I looked like I had really, really bad dandruff!  It was worth it to see the kids' faces.

#4  My sweet SIL, who is also a dog groomer, kept Phoebe for the day!  Aunt Dore got her all cleaned up, AND worn out!  This is what rode home with me from Fruitland this afternoon!

#5  It's Memorial Day Weekend!  Before you celebrate with your BBQ's, swimming parties, camping fun, etc., please remember those who fought for you to have the freedom to have these type of celebrations!

Happy Memorial Day!  Thanks for reading!

What I wore this Week! Better this week, I think!

Last week of school!  Can we say, excited???  This week I tried to dress a little better.  Some days you may think, Really?, but what's new? Haha!!  Here you go!

Thursday:

My principal is leaving us!  Boooooo!!!  He is, however, being replaced by a great guy, so I'm not too bummed!  Anyhow, in his honor, we wore Cards gear on Thursday.  A couple of years ago, several of us had these "Teachers <3 St Louis" shirts made, and I love them!  I also had Aimie one made that said "Teacher's kids<3 St Louis".  Of course, it had to be worn with jeans!  One of my fav pair from the Buckle.  On the feet - Old Navy flips!!!

Friday:

It's Field Day at AES!!!  We also had Field Day shirts printed, with Event Staff on the back!  Very easy for teachers/parents/kids to locate us - except it was a bit chilly Friday, so I had my NorthFace on!  Harder to find me!  Anyone who knows that knows it is nowhere near hard to find me!  I'm too loud! Ha!  Jean capris from the Buckle, my Field Day t-shirt, and my cheap slip ons! It was a fantastic day!  Our PTO has started having a Carnival type field day, and the kids LOVE it!  Teachers think it's pretty great too!

Saturday:  No picture!  Thank goodness!  Wasn't even wearing my cute pajamas, just some ratty shorts and a rattier tee!

Sunday:

No hubby!  He was gone fishing (thus the ratty pj's all day yesterday!) so I went to church by myself.  Black dress pants, chevron (can't think of what this is called!) with a pink Target long torso tank and silver flats!

Monday:

Last Monday of the regular school year!!  Love my cranberry pants with my chambray denim shirt and a mint green long torso tank from Target!  Had my khaki Toms on, but then changed my mind!  As most of you know, my baby girl is home, which is fantastic; however, with her coming home, my shoe supply has increased!!  Baby girl had some crochet Toms, and I scarfed those up pretty quick!  I think they were a great addition to the outfit!

Tuesday:

It's payday!!  That means Jeans Day!!  If you haven't figured it out, I LOVE JEANS DAYS!  Wore my Buckle Capris, my animal print shirt with a black tank underneath.  Had on these cute wedge sandals that, as I put them on thought, "why haven't I worn these for a while?"  Let me just say that at 9:00am, I KNEW why I hadn't worn them!  I have a blister on the top of my foot where they rub!  OUCH!  Maybe next time I wear them, I'll wear a big bandage so I don't get that!

Wednesday aka Today:

White bermudas from JCPenney, an aztec print tunic from Cato, and my white wedge sandals.  They lasted until around noon! Ha!

Maybe you got some inspiration from today, maybe you didn't, BUT maybe you do see that even though I'm not a "skinny mini" I do take pride in what I wear (most days).  Be proud of who you are!  Some days are harder than others, and really, you just don't want to dress, but it does make you feel pretty!!

Happy Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!  Am trying to get better at replying to your comments!

Top Two on Tuesday

Top Two Tuesday!  What's on my favorite list today?  Two very opposite things, I assure you, and neither of them have to do with food.  That's an accomplishment, right?!

Favorite #1:  Birchbox

My friend, Erika, got me started on Birchbox.  It's an online company that, for $10/month, they send you sample items to try and if you like, you can order a full size version from their site.  It's very easy to sign up, and it's really fun to get the little box in the mail each month!  I found a new eyeliner I really like, as well as a new sunscreen for my face!!

Favorite #2:  The view from my back deck!

When we built the house, we knew we wanted a walk out basement, which meant we would have an upper deck back porch type thing. Haha!  I, however, didn't want steps going down to the ground from the back deck, so our deck is not accessible to the ground.  I'm a chicken, and didn't want anyone to have easy access to the top level of the house if they climbed the back stairs.  Plus, I have seen far too many movies where the people look out on their back porch/deck and someone is standing there looking in!  The view we have, to me, is gorgeous.  We typically see all kinds of wildlife, so it's pretty neat.

My favorites didn't seem very exciting today, but I am one tired lady!!  Only 2 1/2 more days of school, then 10 days of summer school, then to VA for National Jr. Beta Convention!  THEN my summer might get to start! Ha!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Reading!

Monday's Musings - a whole lot of Random today!

Many random thoughts tend to go through my head at the end of each school year.  With Field Day on Friday, Graduation on Saturday, and Aimie coming home (Thursday), I have just had a whirlwind of a weekend!

Gary and the BIL's went fishing on their annual Guys Fishing Trip, so I thought I would clean house.  WRONG!  Aimie wanted to have a movie night, so we watched "Frozen" (much to her dismay, I hadn't seen it).  Pretty cute movie! Aimie, of course, could sing every song, and quote much of the movie!  Wish I had that skill with things I NEED to remember! Ha!

Nuovo trailer per Frozen – Il regno di ghiaccio, il film Disney ...

Of course, I think Aimie had an ulterior motive to having a movie night with Mom.  It was called, "I don't have to put any of my college stuff away!" Ha!  Our house looks like a tornado hovered for days!  Wouldn't trade it for the world!

Ok, so maybe it's not THIS bad, but.......

Then, Michael and Ashley came and spent the night Friday night, and Michael mowed for me Saturday.  I was going to mow Friday evening, but when I called him to ask how to start the mower, he felt fear pity for me, and said he would do it Saturday!!

Gary's other baby! LOL!  Not his exactly, but very similar.  Now you see why Michael was so worried about me mowing! LOL!

God sure did Bless me with two beautiful children!!

This was taken as a surprise Aimie's Sr. Year, so it's been a year since this one!

Now, to give my sweet former student Erika a boost, hook up to her page for a chance to win a complete skin care regime from Rodan&Fields.  Go to her blog for more info, by clicking on the picture below.

Enough randomness for now, gotta snuggie with the hubby!

New Thursday topic: What I found on Pinterest.

I love Pinterest!  I always have the page open on my laptop, and I frequently visit the site when I need inspiration.  I have gotten several fashion ideas from Pinterest, and a LOT of ideas for my classroom.  If you haven't yet visited this awesome site, please do so at www.pinterest.com

I decided that during school, I just don't read enough to be able to have a post every week.  During the summer, I might do that, but it may just appear on my Monday posts!  Who knows?!  So, I thought maybe I would post some of my favorite Pinterest ideas.  My favorite things from Pinterest are the clothes!  I really, really wish I could just step into Pinterest and use it as my closet!!!  But then, why wish my world away?!

Christmas Tale Blogfest - My Special Christmas Wish.....
Here is one of my all time favorite outfit pins from Pinterest.

bright skinnies, striped boat neck top, neutral accents: cute outfit for spring or fall...
I like this one so much, that I even recreated it on my very own!  Not exact matches, but I think I nailed it!

Didn't do the scarf, can only do those on COLD days, otherwise this old woman gets hot fast!  I think I will spend my summer reorganizing my closets, etc. to re create more of these fun outfits!!!

Happy Reading!  Thanks for stopping by!!

What I Wore last Week! Not too exciting.

When it's rainy and blah, and you are so ready to be done with things (I am going to miss my kiddos, so no, it's not them), it's hard to dress to that effect!  I tried, I really did, but some days were just blah!  Here you go!

Thursday:
Thursday was "rainbow" day for our Team Hornets this week.  The only shirt I had that was "rainbow" promoted a bar/restaurant in Panama City! Ha!  Guess I hadn't put my shoes on yet! I believe I wore my white Old Navy flips!  Even pulled the hair into a pony tail!

Friday:

Orange and black day/jeans day for Team Hornets week!  I really don't know what was up with the hair, but I am smiling! Ha!

Sunday, Mother's Day:

I love, love, love this skirt!!!  I don't wear it near enough because I tend to "forget" I'm wearing a skirt and act like I have pants on.  Not good!  White tee from Target, and my white wedge sandals!  Comfortable, yet pretty sassy!  I really don't look like I will be 47 in November, do I?  Yes, I AM fishing for a compliment here!

Monday:

This was one of my favorites of the week!  My GAP "skinny" pants, my striped Limited sweater, with my aqua colored tank (long torso from Target), and my aqua statement necklace from Amazon.  If you haven't tried one of those long torso tanks, you really have to!  I am by no means long waist-ed, but these cover my curvy bottom a whole lot more than those shorter ones!!  This one "rocked" the cute - o - meter!!!

Tuesday:

It's Redbirds game day!!!  Took the 6th grade to Memphis for our annual (started it last year) "YOU PASSED 6TH GRADE" field trip.  Love these new capris from the Buckle, my Cardinals tee from Target, a red tank (not the long torso - booo), and my new cheap inexpensive slip on shoes from Target (where else?)  I really, really have got to get rid of that overflow at the top of those capris! Haha!  I can laugh about it, but I really am going to start working on that.

Wednesday:

Today was rainy, yucky, had to be there earlier than normal, tee shirt, khaki and tennis shoe kind of day!  I am smiling, though! Ha!

Hope you enjoyed this, and as always, Happy Reading!  I can't wait till a really pretty day!  I have a great "Pinterest" outfit that I cannot wait to wear!!
