Let's Talk.....Guys

Happy, happy Monday, FRIENDS!  I'm linking up with Erika and her friend Andrea for their Let's Talk series.  Hadn't seen this one, just goes to show you how out of the blog world I was!

Guys!  Oh boy, have I got a some guys for me!!  Ha!  Couldn't say they were for you, because, well, they are mine! 

First, is the first love of my life, my Daddy!  This man was truly the best man I have ever met!  He rarely yelled, or spanked us, but we knew when we messed up.  He always took us to church, and one of the last things he told me was to get back in church and read my Bible more.  I'm partially listening, and before long will follow all of his instructions!!  Love this man unbelievably!!!

Second, is the second love of my life, my Hubby!!  Gary and I met when he was 16 and I was 18.  Yes, there is a year and 8 months between us, but who cares!  Almost everybody thinks he's older anyway! Ha!  This man, oh boy, this man!  All I can say is that I got one who is pretty close to loving me and taking care of me as good as my Daddy did!  He's the peanut butter to my jelly, the bacon to my eggs, and all those other corny things!  I am truly thankful that God put this boy in my path almost 30 years ago!!!

Third, and last, is my baby boy!  When we got pregnant, we were so excited!  We were also determined we were going to be surprised, especially since we couldn't afford an additional ultrasound! Ha!  Back then, unless you were having trouble, you only got one "paid by insurance" ultrasound, and as poor, broke, college kids, we just couldn't afford one just to find out if we were having a boy or a girl....so, we were surprised!  I swore girl the WHOLE time!  When the Dr said boy, I was like, "are you sure?" LOL!  That's how positive I was!  But this boy, man, he rocked my world!  I can truly say this child is one of the BEST things to ever happen to me!  He's married now, but he will always be my baby boy, and his wife Ashley is quite ok with that!  Especially since that makes her one of my babies too!!

There you have it!  The GUYS in my life!  Maybe one of these days I will have another, but I'm content to have just these three....for now! HA! No pressure kids!!!

Spending the week with this precious lady!!  She is so overwhelmed with the loss of Daddy, that when we can do things to make her smile, it' makes my day!!!  

TWO:

Getting back to the blogging thing!  I have so enjoyed doing this blog this week, and I'm sure I may skip a time or two, but it will be oh so fun to keep it up!

THREE:

Going home!  As much as I have enjoyed being with my momma, I'm so ready to sleep in my own bed!  I'll still be available for her to call, and I'll call daily like always, but it's sister Libby's turn!!

FOUR:

I got to finish a book, and am almost finished with another!!!  Wahooo!!!

This time last year

This time last year, I was out of school too.  No, it wasn't for anything in particular, we had a snow day - I'm thinking it was a snow week, but it was snow related. Ha!  We had found out we were going to have school the next day! Yay!!!  I know, right, it had to have been one of those long breaks because I was ready to go back.  Well.......God had other plans for this girl.

I went to bed like normal.  Hadn't been sleeping well anyway, and so I was up around 3:30 am just hanging out, reading a book, on FB (nope, nobody was on), and watching missed episodes.  Gary came out around 4:30 to check on me (make sure I wasn't asleep in the chair) and asked if I was ok.  I wasn't.  I didn't feel right, couldn't put a finger on it, just felt weird.  Kind of achy in my upper joints, etc, my jaw hurt some, some chest pain - I thought it was anxiety due to going back to school.  Decided to go to the ER.

When we arrived, I told them I thought I could be having a heart attack, but just wasn't real sure.  They looked at me (47 at the time, not overweight - at the time) and were like, ok.  Took me back to a room cause they weren't really busy, and hooked me up to the EKG.  Well, it didn't take long until they were making me chew baby aspirin, giving me nitro pills under the tongue (huge side effect for those who don't know - massive headache!), and calling in Cardio (I requested my parents' dr, because I like him, and he's not too bad on the eyes).  

He came in, and said he needed to do an angiogram ASAP to see where the clot was, and may even have to put a stint in.  Now, folks, I just went in feeling weird!  None of then "classic" symptoms I had learned about in CPR (yes, I paid attention), and  nothing I had seen on TV!!!  What the heck!

Had the angiogram, and Dr. Beck couldn't put the stint in because the vein that was blocked was too small.  So we treat with medicine.  A LOT OF MEDICINE! UGH!  He told me I was one of the unusual cases (Ha, I know, right?) and it just happened.  I have to stay on the meds for a whole year - almost there!!!

I am truly thankful that my heart attack was mild, but so many women out there have them and do nothing about them!  Know your bodies ladies!  That is the only thing that kept me from having anything severe.  Yes, I have been back to the ER several times with that weird feeling, and while I haven't had any other issues, they have been scary.  I have felt "stupid" about going, but each time the nurses, as well as the drs. have all said not to.  They would rather I come in and have nothing, than ignore it and well.....

So there's my thoughts on this Thursday.  By the way, my anniversary date is February 27th, and I plan to celebrate!!!

so, here I go!!!

1.  What we're eating this week:

Since I'm with Momma this week, there really is no set menu, except SNACKING!!  My momma loves to snack, and it's creating havoc with my ever growing waistline. BOO!  Gary did, however, bring us some awesome porksteaks and fried chicken (the man amazes me with his combinations) last night for supper, so we are kind of eating some regular food.  Tonight is a pot of homemade (my version - open cans) soup!

  

These are Momma's favorites, and the fingers are what I end up with when I'm eating them!!!

2.  What I'm reminiscing about:

This man.  The first love of my life!  He's been gone for a little over a month, and it seems like a lifetime!  I can only imagine how my Momma is feeling after losing the Love of her Life for 63 years!!!

3. What I'm Loving:

Sleeping in.  Usually this time of year we have some snow days.  Not happening this year!  We have only had a couple so far. BOO!!!

4.  What we've been up to:

Not really much.  Trying to find things that Daddy filed away.  Whew!  I loved him dearly, but men cannot keep things orderly!!!

5.  What I'm Dreading:

Leaving Momma to go back to school.  I know my sister Libby will do awesome, I just worry! 

 

6.  What I'm Working On:

Requisitions, Inventory, and PLC stuff!  Need I say more????

7.  What I'm excited about:

April 29th!  The day we get to open the pool for the summer!!  I know it won't be warm enough, but it will be the anticipation!!!

8.  What I'm Watching/Reading:

I'm loving all the Chicago series (Fire, Med, PD), as well as my Grey's!!  I'm reading my Jesus Calling/Bible and finally Tricky Twenty Two by Janet Evanovich!  Just love that Stephanie Plum!!

9.  What I'm Listening to:

Any Gospel Music Momma can find! That's ok, though, cause I love those old hymns!!!

10.  What I'm Wearing:

Today, I'm in my pajamas! Yes, I plan to wear them pretty much all day! Ha!  Yesterday, I wore my Big Star jeans (had to go up a size - BOO!) and a striped long sleeve shirt with my military jacket!  I actually wore people clothes!!!

11.  What I'm doing this weekend:

Absolutely no idea!  I have learned not to make plans, because they inevitably change.

12.  What I'm looking forward to next month:

BETA!!!  I'm going to Senior Beta Convention in Branson to help out my Sr State Sponsor, Traci!  Can't wait to not be in charge, but be there to help in any way possible!!!

13.  What else is new

I did get a new ride!  I'm loving it!  I've had an Explorer before, and went to a car because we were making a LOT of road trips and the gas!!!!  This feels like home! 

Bonus Question:  What is your Easter Tradition?

Why, going to Momma and Daddy's for Easter dinner with most of the family!!!  Even though he will be gone this year, it's still going to Momma and Daddy's!!!
