Thursday's Thoughts

I sit here today very tired.

Thyroid, Adrenals, and Hormone Problems: My Personal Battle

As a teacher, we often have to do all kinds of things beyond the realm of teaching.  Take today, for instance, I had to be a stapler fixer.  This is typically a daily job for me, because, contrary to popular opinion, 12 year olds and staplers do not mix!  It seems like these kids can jam even the best stapler around!  It's really funny that I also send an email to all the staff asking for pliers, and I end up getting several pair offered to me! Ha!  I must not be the only one with stapler jamming kiddos!

This has absolutely nothing to do with staplers, but I thought it was kinda funny! Ha!

Today, I was also the filter cleaner of the smart board projector.  For a short person, it is NOT an easy job.  I drag a chair over and still stand on the tip toes!  Then you have to just blow the dust out of the foam.  Yeah, pretty fun!

I also got to see the "lightbulbs" light up!  That is the BEST part of my job!  We worked with balances and beakers today, and just seeing the excitement over finding the mass of the beakers, the mass of the water, and the density of the water, well, let's just say it was pretty cool!

So, even though I sit here very tired, it's a blessed kind of tired.  Happy Thursday, and thanks for stopping by!

PS:  Today marks post 100!!!  So excited!!!

What I Wore this Week!

Here we go!!  Been a Hot, Hot, week, but I still managed to look good! Ha!  I did forget to take ONE picture of my date night outfit! Blah!  Oh well, I'll just have to wear the exact same outfit soon!

Linking up with The Pleated Poppy

I've lost track of the days I wore which outfit, so you just get them this way:

1.
This is my stretchy crop pants from Target, a white long torso tee from Target, and a pink peasant type top from hmmmm.....not sure.  Will have to check that one out! Of course, I have my favorite black patent sandals on.

2.
White bermudas from the Loft, blue and white top from Cato, and my white flips.  I have a white necklace on that I got from Cato too!

3.

Black and white maxi shirt from Kohls, Black long torso tank from Target, and a white sleeveless jacket type thing, that I can't think of the name of! Ha!  I believe I got this at a little shop in Indiana when I went on a trip with the hubs.  The necklace is a new favorite, but at the moment I cannot remember where I got it.  Black patent sandals!

4.
Black palazzo pants from Kohls, white tank from Target, and my lime green linen shirt that I don't remember where I got it from either, but I think I ordered it from Nordstrom. (Can you tell it's been a rough day?)  I'm wearing my silver sandals that I got from Gordman's in St. Louis.  I forgot I had them, so it was like having a new pair of shoes!!  I didn't flat iron my hair today, just cause I was HOT, but I'm thinking it doesn't look so bad.

Here's hoping you enjoyed, and maybe got an idea, or even a chuckle!  Happy Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday's Top Two!

Today, Erika and Andrea are having a party, so I am linking up!

Here are a few of my favorite things!

1.  This week, with it being so HOT, and we all know how stinky kids can be when they play outside, I am loving my new wax melt from Walmart.  The flavor is Lemon Basil.

Mainstays Lemon Basil Wax Melts
What a refreshing scent!

2.  My other favorite, of late, seems to be FREE!  That is just laying in bed at night, knowing I don't have to do anything other than sleep! Sounds silly to some, but I am so very tired, and I just really love to lay in bed and relax!

Sometimes, it's just the simple things in life!  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Tuesday!

Thankful Thursday!

Had to go for my follow up appt. to my Dr. in St. Louis.  This, hopefully, will be the last time I see him for a couple of reasons  1.  He got a promotion as Chairman of Surgery in Rochester, NY; 2.  Hopefully this procedure WORKED!!!

This has absolutely nothing to do with this post, except the word doctor, but I LOVED it!!

From my house to his office is roughly a 2 1/2 hour drive.  I sat in the waiting room for 15 minutes, and saw the Dr. for 10! Ha!  It was ok.  Most people would be upset, but I was stoked!  He said, he is fairly certain this procedure worked, the cyst was benign, and I should start feeling better in about a month - this surgery was a tough one!  Yay!!!!  Then, Gary and I ate lunch at Hooters!  My choice!  Funny thing, the waitress paid more attention to ME than Gary!!!  Hahahaha!!!!  They really do have the BEST fried pickles!!!

So, for this reason, today is my Thankful Thursday!!!  Happy Reading!  Thanks for stopping by!!

What I Wore this Week!

Here we go!!  It's more than tees and shorts because it's time for school!!  A whole week of "professional" clothes! Blech! Ha!  Linking up with The Pleated Poppy

This was actually Monday's outfit.  I got these comfy palazzo type pants at Wal-Mart (of all places!) and the shirt was a find last year.  I bought it big because I kind of like the flowy.  Gary, on the other hand, thinks it makes me look dumpy.  Since my fashion consultant #1 has gone off to college, and the number 2 consultant got married, I need your opinions!  I'm tough, I can take it.  Shoes were my patent sandals with gold spikey things on them.  Turns out that the spikey things on my shoes matched the buttons on my shirt! WooHoo!  Score!!!!

Wore this Tuesday (yesterday).  The skort is a Christopher & Banks find, and the white tee is an oldie but goodie Target tee.  Shoes were my patent sandals.

This happens to be today's outfit of choice.  Payday means jeans day, and I tried.  Not in the best of post surgery conditions to wear jeans that rub that belly button area. (Boo!)  Wore an Advance Schools polo, with my favorite jean capris, and the lace Toms.

This was my Friday outfit.  Lace tank from the Loft with a pink long torso tank from Target underneath, Black palazzo pants from Kohls, and black sandals with a crochet type top that kinda matched the shirt.

Thursday's outfit was a black and white chevron maxi skirt from Kohls with the "must have" shirt from Nordstrom and my black blingy sandals.  The necklace is a handmade, one of a kind, from 2nd Story Design (Amber Bond), a local girl woman from Advance who has a jewelry business.  It is in the shape of a chevron type design - I love it!

There you have it!  Happy Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday's Top Two

Whew!  Made it through another day!  Here to share my Top Two Favorite Things this week!

#1.  This little sweetie!  I have felt so guilty for leaving her as much as we have, that I am trying to pay a little more attention to her!  She just doesn't get upset with anything I do!  Well, until I tell her no, then watch out!  Hmmm...seems a little bit like Aimie!!  Haha!!

Poor sweet puppy!  She was wiped out!

Phoebe climbed into my lap, in front of my laptop, so I would pay attention!

This is Phoebe pouting because I can't play with her!

#2.  Rainbows!  What more can I say, but I love God's blessings of Rainbows!!

Rainbow from today's little storm.

And again, only a different angle.

There you have it!  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Tuesday!!!

Monday's Musings!

Almost missed Monday!!  Been a busy, busy time at the Simmers house.  Aimie's VB season started with the alumni scrimmage at JeffCo Saturday night.  Tonight, they played a MoBap scrimmage.  So excited for a new season!!!

Aimie Simmers
This is last year's picture.  She will probably get on to me love me so much for posting this!

Saturday was also my parents' 62 anniversary!  I so admire them for all they have been through, and all they have accomplished!  Mainly me! Ha!  I have 4 sisters and 1 brother who passed away 15 years ago.  It just seems like yesterday!  Mom and Dad have lost 3 children, their parents, siblings, and several close friends.  Dad turned 85 in June and Mom will be 85 in November.  Thank you Lord for this sweet, sweet couple, who has been a role model for many!

Friday Favorites!

Linking up with Erika, and her friends Andrea and Narci for my Friday Favorites!  I am really excited to be back in the blog swing!  Easy to get out of, because of LIFE, and hard to get back into because of LIFE!  Anyhow, here we go!!!!

Momfessionals
You know that at least one of my favorites is food related! Ha!  With school being back in session, I get to see my co-workers and my beautiful school daughter more often!  A couple times a year, my school daughter Emma will bring me a loaf of her Grandma MG's homemade bread!  OMW!!  I love MG's bread!!!  This year, I have added one to my school family!!  Drew Parker started Kindergarten!  I was almost as sad as his Momma!  Anyway, now my bread is not only from Emma, but Drew as well!  Love my kids!!!

This was the last bite of the bread! Haha!  Yes, I ate the WHOLE LOAF!  Not all in one day, of course, but in TWO!!

Another current favorite would be the chair I am borrowing from a co-worker to sit in at school!  It is one of those really nice chairs that allow you to actually sit comfortably!  I knew I would either have to go purchase one, or find the one the school purchased a couple of years ago.  I found it!  VERY comfy and I can stretch back so I'm not hunched!

Similar, but not identical!

So excited to be back to the blog!  I know it's been sporadic, but I am going to go at it every week day from now on!  It's relaxing and makes my mind work on things somewhat above a 6th grade level! Ha!

Happy Friday!  Thanks for stopping by!

What I Wore Wednesday!

Only have one outfit to post today, but school starts tomorrow, and I have to professionally dress every day! No more jammies, t-shirts, or shorts! Boo!!! Haha!  Anyway, here's my Open House outfit.

As I have only been in recovery from surgery for 1 week, I think I look pretty awesome!  It's amazing how much better you "feel" when you dress up! Ha!  I have on a chevron maxi skirt with a black tank and a black sheer overlay.  Wore my gold studded black sandals.

Linking up with The Pleated Poppy.

See you tomorrow!  I'm back in action!

Thanks for stopping by!

Is it Wednesday already???

I have nothing to post for my what I wore, so I'll just give you a highlight of the past few days!  What a crazy past few days we have had in the Simmers household!

1.  Aimie left me!  She got almost everything in her car this year.  (Last year it took two vehicles - she's growing up!!!  Not as hard for me to let her go this year, but it has still been tough!

Aimie Simmers

This is last year's picture!  Can't wait to see this year's!!!

2  WEDDING:  Went off without a hitch (well the tractor parade caused a wee bit of a snag, but not much).  My new daughter was and still is quite beautiful!  My son teared up when he saw his beautiful bride enter the church!  My baby girl was happy, smiling, and gorgeous!!!  I held it together quite well, until the Mother/Son dance.

3.  Run around like a chicken with your head cut off on Monday!  Finished some last minute classroom touches, met with my Principal, forgot to discuss several issues unrelated to my classroom, but school related, so I'll have to set aside time for that!

This is my color scheme

4.  Had a couple cysts (they were connected and pretty big) removed from my liver on Tuesday!  Sore, and very tired (but the pain meds are awesome).  Resting up today, tomorrow, maybe do a little something Friday, depends on how well I feel.  Then.....

(Couldn't find a picture that wasn't really gross!)

5.  Work Days start at school on Monday!!!  I'm very excited to be back in the classroom, back to a routine, but I sure am going to miss sleeping in!

School’s Back in Session Tomorrow

There you have it!  I'll be better next week, I hope! Ha!  Maybe things will settle down and get back to normal!

Thanks for stopping by!
