My Favorite Things!

Today, I am linking up with Erika and her friend Andrea to tell you about a few of My Favorite Things!

Since I'm back to trying to eat healthier, I'm trying to cut out my Diet Mt. Dew Habit! (gasp!)  It's been a bit rough, and some days, I have 2 or 3!  That, my friends, is much better than the 5 or 6 I was having!  I've decided to go back to tea.  Unsweet, instant tea, which leads me into two of my favorite things:

Lipton Instant Tea

Gary's family actually hooked me on the instant tea when we started dating 28 years ago.  I had always drank brewed tea, but it had such a strong aftertaste, that I would go to the sodas instead.  I love my Mother In Law's tea!  Of course, we would always sweeten with lots of sugar, but it's still very good with the sweetener.

Nectresse All Natural Sweetener:

Nectresse.png
Having heard all the BAD things about the artificial sweeteners, I have yet to hear anything bad about this.  I also haven't been researching either, I just wait for someone to say it's bad! Ha!

There you go Blog Friends, it's my favorites post!  Happy Monday, stay cool, and thanks for reading!

Full Week Friday!

What a week!  Since I last visited, I have been in several states, been to DC, sat in an auditorium with thousands of Middle School Betas, ridden the elevator with several of those Betas, taken a 15 hour trip (30 total) with two of my former students (had a BLAST, and learned a lot too!), and am WORN OUT!

I was home Tuesday, but am now just getting caught up enough to sit down and visit the blog!  I have sure missed visiting with everyone!

The crazy thing is that since I had to go up to the school, was with the kids, and actually did some educational stuff, my Back to School Nightmares have begun already!!  Those things wear me out, so I seriously hope they are making a temporary show!

Back to School NIGHTMARE #1!
(minus the depression)

Still much to do, so I will just let you know that next week's blog will consist of My Favorite things (linking up with Erika and her friend Andrea), Tuesday will be a recap of my trip, Wednesday will be all about what I wore during my trip, Thursday you will get to see a "look how far I've gotten on the puzzle" as well as a recap of the book "The Maze Runner" (dang that Aimie, she hooked me!), and Friday - well, Happy Fourth of July!!!

Just wanted to let you all know I am alive and kicking!  See you next week!

Remember the other day I said I was taking on finishing a puzzle for a summer project?  Just wanted to update you on that status of the 1000 piece puzzle.

Here is the "where this summer began":

Here is the "today's progress":

Sorry for the different views, but you can see I have accomplished a LOT!  Time for a little break!

Richmond, here we come!!  Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Thursday!!

What I Wore this Week!

Mostly the tees and shorts! Ha!  You would be shocked if I said anything else!  BUT....I did put together a couple of cute outfits!

This is my favorite capris with a cute top that at first I didn't like, but now I kinda do.  It's the kind that hides a bigger middle - if you get my meaning! LOL!

The outfit I wore for the Future DIL's wedding shower.  Got the skirt at Penney's and LOVE it!  The picture doesn't even begin to do it justice.  I am wearing a sheer black shirt that I got from Penney's too,  with a black long torso tank from Target.  I also have the "gotta have 'em" wedge sandals from Nordstrom.  My picture taker wasn't overly thrilled with having to take the picture, and I didn't have the technical knowledge to edit this, since it was on my iPhone, so I'm so sorry for the quality!  You will see this skirt again, maybe with a different top, or the whole entire outfit! Ha!

This was my Father's Day, go to church with my Daddy outfit!  Black maxi skirt that I got from the website Nomorerack.com.  There are some great things on that site, and some that I would pass on.  It's really fun to go to though.  White tank from Target, with my chambray shirt from the Loft, and a necklace from Lia Sophia.

There you go!  Hope you enjoyed!  I'll have some more outfits next week, cause I'm going to Richmond!!!

Happy Wednesday!

Tuesday's Top Two

Welcome back to Tuesday's Top Two!  Today, I am going to share my top two favorite things to do.  One is a new favorite I have found to be quite relaxing.  That is PUZZLES!  Aimie declared me an old lady today because I was working on this puzzle and have to wear my reading glasses! Ha!

Gary and I started this puzzle a year ago this past winter.  Our goal is to finish and then "glue" it together and frame it to hang.  It's a Terry Redlin puzzle.  Terry Redlin in a well known artist.  Gary discovered his museum on one of his trips and fell in love!  We decided this would be fun to do as a couple, but...... neither one of us had the patience we needed! Ha!  1000 pieces!!  I got it out again today to work on! Summer project???

The second thing I like to do is read.  We - Aimie, Ashley, myself, and my sisters - had a discussion this weekend about Kindle vs. the Real book.  I personally love to have a real book in my hands, but my Kindle is nice too!  Really, I guess that means I like them both!  The thing that sets the Kindle a little higher is that I can order a book online and have it in just a few minutes, instead of having to wait until I go to Cape.  Ta-da!!

There you go!  Thanks for stopping by!

Next week, starting Friday, my blog will hopefully be posted from Richmond, VA at National Jr. Beta Club Convention!

Happy Father's Day!

Today, my Monday post will be aimed at my Daddy!  He is the first man I ever loved!  Here's to you Daddy!

And now to Honor the LOVE of my LIFE:

This man is truly a blessing to me.  I am so very thankful God put him in my life!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Monday!

Thoughtful Thursday

Just thinking, out loud, blog style!  Today I went to meet my Daddy's Hematologist.  I liked him.  He was from India, so it was a little hard to understand, unless you really FOCUSED!  That's not a great skill of mine, but when it's an important time to do so, I can. Ha!

"If you chase two rabbits, both will escape." #focus #discipline #quote

As I am sitting there waiting on the Dr. to come in, I see this little typed sign.  I wanted to share, not sure why, but maybe because it might touch someone else like it touched me.

That's all I have for today!  Happy Thursday, and be grateful for the things you have, and blessed with the things He has given you (things money cannot buy!)!!

What I Wore This Week

So I decided not to post my usual tee shirts and shorts everyday!  I know, you are very disappointed! Ha!

Linking up with The Pleated Poppy

Here goes:

I actually did get a compliment from one of my kids at summer school today!  I really wore a very bummy tshirt simply because I was cleaning my room so the maintenance staff could clean. Ha!

This was my "going to the movies" outfit!  We took the summer school crew to see "The Croods".  Being that my kiddos are older, I haven't seen a lot of these new releases.  I think I slept through some of it, but it wasn't bad.  The kids were really good in the theater! Got these comfy capris at Academy!  OMW, I love them!

Church day!  I wore my black and white chevron skirt with a white top.  Also had on my white wedge heels.  Aimie actually said I looked cute today!  SCORE!!!!

The hubs and I went to Cape Sunday evening.  I was going to be comfortable, but he came out all spiffed up, so.....I got my white shorts, and one of my new tanks from the Loft, with my Buckle sandals and was ready to go!!!!  Got a cute out of Aimie on this one too!!!

Monday was "Catch up on appts. day!"  I do truly regret wearing shorts, because it was rainy and a bit cooler than I thought it was going to be.  Wore my black shorts with a white tee, and my black patent sandals.  I seem to be getting into a black and white rut????  I did meet my main squeeze, my baby boy, my BIL and my nephew for lunch!

Monday evening, remember it turned cool, I went with Gary to have dinner with a friend.  Aimie took this picture.  I didn't get a cute, but she said I looked ok.  After looking at this picture, she should have said,"Uh Mom, that doesn't look too flattering!"   Oh well, learned my lesson there!  P.S. She did like the nude flats!!! My favorite!!

And, to cap it off, I had another appt today, I thought it was going to be cool - NOT! - so I wore my comfy capris with a white tee.  I did wear my favorite Buckle sandals too!

I did go shopping today and got a really CUTE outfit for my future DIL's wedding shower Saturday!  Can't wait!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Wednesday!

Come On In: My Yard and Outdoor Space

Today, instead of my usual Two-fer Tuesday, I'm linking up with Erika and her friend Andrea for their Come On In series.  This month is for yards/outdoor spaces.  I'm going to apologize up front for the rainy pictures,  I also stink at yard decor, but, I do love my space!

From the front of the house:  Ignore the fact that the front door is open, I'm standing in the rain taking these pictures!!  The "fire" bushes need to be trimmed, but Gary and I are not really sure what shape we want to trim them!  The smaller yews just won't grow!  They are the exact same size they were when we planted them.  We are thinking of tearing them out???  Can't decide.

This view is on the right side of the house in the front.  The knockout roses, sigh, were beautiful for several years, then all of a sudden DIED!  There was another one at the corner of the house, but we had to pull it up.  We haven't pulled this one yet because it is half alive.  We will replace these next spring, though.

This view is the left side of the house in the front.  We planted the Japanese Maple the same time we planted all the other shrubbery!  I LOVE it!  I was really afraid the frosts would kill it, but so far so good!  The Rose of Sharon bushes to the left of the picture are transplants from my parent's house.  I'm really proud of them!

Here is a view from the upstairs back doors!  This is my absolute favorite!  I actually watched a doe and a raccoon have a stand off at the feeder today!

This is another view from the back porch.  It includes my patio set.  We sit out here a LOT in the spring and cooler summer evenings.  We have even bundled up and sat out here on clear winter nights.  Gorgeous!  Ignore the weed growing in my pot of dead mums.  A petunia sprung up and I didn't want to kill it! Haha!!

This picture is from the concrete driveway by the house.  We debated on what to do with the landscaping on this hillside.  We decided to get shrubs and plant them along the driveway, and mulch the area.  In the next picture is a view of the "what do we do with this space" area.  We planted a lilac bush (very small lilac bush) and then I got some Hostas from a friend and transplanted them this year.  I really hope they survive!!

Yes, we need to re-mulch, but we think we are going to put "creek rock" here instead!  The mulch just wants to run off with the rain!  Ignore the broken trash can lid too!  I forgot it was there until I put this picture up! Hahaha!

Last, but not least, our little garden!  We moved it closer to the house this year, and only have 4 tomato plants.  Our cucumbers are going to be quite interesting.  Being that I washed, and dried the seeds (in their ziploc baggie), so much that the baggie had melted, Gary decided to just plant ALL the seeds (he's such a pessimist, he didn't think anything would come up), now we have a bunch a little plants.  Can't wait till these start producing!

Hope you enjoyed my yard and outdoor spaces!  Happy Tuesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Monday's Musings

I can't believe we are almost to the middle of JUNE!  Today was my first day of freedom official vacation!  My last day of summer school was Friday.  I really did enjoy it, even though the days were LONG - for those of you who remember from previous posts 7:00 am to 4:00 pm was my time frame. Lesson learned! Ha!

 depositphotos_10210606-Summer-Vacation-Hawaiian-Beach-Doodles-Vector ...

This summer is going to be jam packed with fun and frenzy!  My baby boy is getting married August 2nd, so now I'm devoting my time to helping with the wedding, taking the parents to their dr. appts. (whole other blog post there), taking myself to all my dr. appts. (teachers understand that you have to try to make most of your "checkup" appts in the summer time), being Aimie's "secretary"- actually, I'm going to help her learn the ins and outs of making her own appts. and all that other grown up stuff! Ha!  I'm too much of a control freak, and she knows it, and PURGING!  Yes, I'm going to get rid of a bunch of STUFF!

Too funny not to post! Ha!

I am afraid I could very easily be a Hoarder, but thank the Good  Lord, He found a mate for me that is a PITCHER (not the baseball kind either)!  We balance each other out quite well!  I'm beating him in the hoarding dept though, so I'm helping him out and tipping the scales to his side!

I'm excited, and am going to start - TOMORROW!  (Have I also told you that I'm a procrastinator?) Haha!

Happy Monday!  Thanks for reading!  Excited for Summer Vacation!

Finally finished "The Fault in Our Stars"

Every once in a while I get what some call insomnia, I call something not so nice.  It's like my brain won't shut off for me to just get to sleep!  I think sometimes it's because I am so very tired, that I have too much adrenaline going to keep me up!

Anyway, on that night, I finished "The Fault in Our Stars". OMW, that is an awesome book!  I'm kind of excited about the movie, in a way! Ha!  Most of the time while watching the movie, I compare it to the book, so I never really enjoy the movie!  This time, I will try not to do that!  Maybe if I take Gary (he's never read the book) I will be able to do that!  If I take Aimie, we will both talk about what's left out, as do Michael and I!  Love the fact that both my kids, and even my future kid (Ashley) loves to read!!

So, in honor of that, I have found several quotes that I will share with my blog friends, who mostly happen to be my up close and personal friends. Ha!

What I Wore this Week!

I got some new shorts because, well, because I wanted to and my others just didn't seem right. Ha!  I also have a couple of days that I totally rocked it!  Probably because my legs aren't as visible as they are in most of my summer pics!  Here goes:

Thursday, May 29th:

White tee and black shorts!  Guess what was on my feet?!  Black flips (well, after I went to get them on)

Friday, May 30th:  No summer school today, so I truly was bad!!  I can't even remember what I wore, but I do know that I had to go run some "errands" (hair and toes, and walmart) and I know I looked quite bad, well, my hair looked good after it was done, so did my toes!!!  No pic today!

Saturday, May 31st:  Morning/Day

Jean shorts from Penneys.  Cute sleeveless top I've had forever, but rarely wear!  I wore no shoes most of the day, because my toes were gorgeous, AND I was hanging out at the house.  I did run to Puxico to see the parents, so I wore......silver flips!!!

Saturday, May 31st:  Evening

I felt kinda cute in this outfit.  Long torso tank from Target, purple chevron flowy shirt from ??? and white bermudas.  Hey Erika!  I got some of those "you must have these" wedges your friend Scheaffer suggested!!  Love them, and they ARE so comfortable!!!  Sorry, folks, Nordstrom only has them in 5, 10, and 11. (Boo! - unless that is your size, then Yeah!) I did get quite a few compliments on this outfit, so it ranked on the cute - o - meter.

Sunday, June 1st:  Not sure what I wore today!  We went to church Saturday evening, so I didn't go Sunday.  I know, bad, bad, Sharon!  We did go to Mom and Dad's for lunch, though, but I don't have a clue!  I'm sure it was tee shirt and shorts, though!  Ha!  Plus, it was Baby Girl's 19th birthday (I know, I'm not old enough to have a 19 year old who is my baby!), so the focus was all on HER - when she was home of course!

Monday, June 2nd:  No summer school!  Clean the house day!!!  Which is worse??  I'm not sure because BOTH wear me out!!  Haha!!  I'm by no means a "Oh, I should look cute to clean!"  Bahahaha!  First, I HATE to clean house!  I love it when it's done, but the doing part, just....UGH!  Second, my house hasn't truly been CLEAN all school year, just no time, SO today was the day!  Didn't get it all finished, but there's always post summer school!
This pic was taken mid-day, so my hair was pretty janky!   I didn't realize how bad it looked until I took the pic, and then I thought, "what the heck, I have cellulite too - maybe the hair will be a distraction!"  Ha!

Tuesday, June 3rd:  Back to the summer school grind - and it was HOT - not me, but the day! Bahahaha!
Wore the hair up in a pony tail, with a white hanes tee from Walmart, black mesh shorts from Academy, and......black flips!!!

Wednesday, June 4th:  Trip to St. Louis John Cochran Medical Center for the Padre!

Striped tee from Target, Buckle capris, and crochet Toms.  When you go to the VA with your parents, who are 84 and VERY conservative, you tend to not wear shorts, even though it is 80* outside!

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Wednesday!

Sharon
