Tuesday: Recap of the Convention & DC

Whew!  Thought things would settle down after THE CONVENTION, but......I'm still on a roller coaster!  This summer has flown by and I have gotten NOTHING accomplished!

Ok, that little rant is over, and here is a recap of our trip to Richmond, VA.

One of my Jr. Beta students placed 2nd at the State level in Math during our State Convention.  Yay!!!  This meant a trip to Richmond, VA.  After much deliberation about travel methods, we decided to rent a vehicle and drive this trip, all in one day!  Took us about 15 hours.  WHEW!!!  Gary, the sweet love of my life, took days off (that he really shouldn't have) to drive us out there!  I LOVE THIS MAN!!

We left Friday, my student competed on Saturday, then Sunday we went to DC.  We skipped decided to get more educational experience and go back to DC on Monday too!  It was so awesome!  I'm not going to go into great detail of all that we saw, but I will say 1.  My children were not so happy, because they have wanted to make this trip for a while, and 2.  We will go back, and stay at least a week!

The Capitol Building

The White House

Union Station

The Washington Monument:  Pretty cool in the reflecting pool!

Such an awe inspiring monument!

Gave me chills standing in this very spot!

After you have looked at just a few of the sights in DC, don't you just want to stand up and sing, "I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free!"??

This is a picture of the Hope Diamond!  Isn't it gorgeous?

Happy 4th of July and thanks for reading!  Tomorrow you will get to see a close up of some of those cute outfits I wore!
